LVG would have signed all these players irrespective of Di Maria’s potential exit.

I’m not really sure Manchester United are looking to offload Di Maria, he fits in pretty well in Van Gaal’s systems which favour wingers.

LVG’s system does not favor wingers/ wing play because last season he tinkered with different formations just to get results. Fergie relied more on wingers when Man Utd was dominating the league than LVG. The likes of Christina, Giggs and Beckham flourished in Fergie’s system.

That is only when he plays 3-5-2 which requires two wingers who also have to track back. But when he uses 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 he will need wingers.
