Over 300 New Houses demolished at Athi-River

That shouldn’t be the govt business. You know Kenyans, one of them tells me he was warned and sold his ka-plot.Whoever he sold to is looking for him

Hawa watu wa lands need to cross with the wrong one one of these days. Someone that will come after one of them and wipe out everything dear to them.

Due diligence ni muhimu before buying land, some of these folks have saved and hustled for years then wanarudishwa square one tena

it will come. do you know that that even that naivasha golf resorts owned by a handful of politicians and run by the kenyattas is grabbed land. even when there, google reads it as ADC land. then there is that building opposite Tmall owned by a western opposition leader thats on riparian land and blocked drainage. the fact is all grabbed land is known so be very diligent when purchasing as time will come when it will be grabbed back regardless of what world wonder you have put there.

Trust me most knew the land wasn’t that clean.

If they knew then wacha wakule ujeuri wao

Often most of that land will have changed hands several times. Several years later, a person who bought 1 acre subdivides and sells quarters, the new buyers build homes. In other situations part of the original parcel of land is resold 5 years later by the same people who sold it the 1st time using a different guise, which creates a complex problem.

It is possible to track down the sellers, in selling/buying land someone is always on the ground showing buyers the land, which is then paid for. Unless the land was paid for in cash, it is possible to trace the payment of invoices, receipts and receiving bank accounts.

The selling of government land is syndicate, which needs to be untangled and disbanded; it also includes another group that hijacks occupied land which they forcefully take ownership of titles and resell. The new system will not resolve the fact the syndicate hold counterfeit title deeds.

Mpesa has what we all believed was a robust money transfer system. Inside staff have set in motion a process to capture the system to perpetuate fraud on Safaricom customers, the same will happen in the lands office unless the syndicates are uprooted and held accountable.

A similar thing happened to the parks gate payment system, it is inside staff who set in motion these crimes, they all need to be held accountable and assets gained from fraud recovered.
Asset declaration forms from the land ministry require a special team to comb through declared assets and accounts.

EAPCC land is a no-go zone. It strands both sides of Mombasa road, particularly the area around Daystar on one side and next to Kahama on the other side. Please warn your friends and relatives.

A bit of history:

Portland decommissioned some mines many years ago and the land was left unattended. Some guys from Mlolongo and Athi River were salivating over the company’s land and they started by importing relatives to claim the land. It started as a joke as they would organize demos involving less than 100 people and then they would invite media people. They claimed that they were refugees since government dispossessed their grandparents.

With time, the guys became clever and they started involving police officers and even some senior ones for that matter. The land barons then started collecting cash among themselves. They alleged that the money would be used to handle surveying costs so that they could be issued with title deeds. They then allocated the land unto themselves and even ‘allocated’ the police officers who cooperated with them.

By that time, the land was generating interest from other members of public. “Plots” that were going for as cheap as 150K about 4 years ago rose to more than 300K in a few years. Anyone who tried to do due diligence and question was told that even Mlolongo has no title deeds, which is true. In their minds, they wanted to turn Athi River into another Mlolongo.

Initially, the small structures that they had started building would be brought down every fortnight. However, with time, they started taking bigger bribes to the police officers and the demolitions would then cease for about 3 months. Within those three months, the guys would then go on a massive selling campaign.

The end result is that some people realized that they were getting conned and they then offloaded to unsuspecting buyers. However, such a scheme has made some guys serious overnight millionaires.

More or less the same as those being flushed from the Mau

In most cases people know very well that the land has issues but it is said that if you guys go ahead and build, the government will issue title deeds

Yes it was syokimau…nyumba hujawai lala ndani hata siku moja tote chini…Mimi naeza chizi.

Painfully true

Grinder ya Makita au Dewalt italetwa na utaungua hapa na pale.

Wah, just put yourself in their shoes. It’s so painful. Due diligence is really important

I know one guy who benefitted from such mlolongo schemes. He was a nobody. If I remember right He had a bicycle which He used to commute.
By a stroke of luck He came to reside in mlolongo from upcountry , He hooked up with this land Cartels barons. His greatest credit was His persuasiveness, quick thinking and a good oratory skills. Through this He used to milk politicians dry.

He went supernova within six months. He was driving a Pajero io. Childen in boarding. Bought a tractor. He was among who is who in that area.

Then suspect individuals started showing up asking if He is around, where His family home is. The community decided all such people shall be d direct to chiefs office for resolution.

The village hero turned villain now visits His home in in short timed briefs. Some of His kids haven’t gone to college due to fees issues. Slowly it seems He is going back to where He belongs.
Behind every wealth there is a story. In kenya most are Hekayas.

that is too painful. too painful and cruel. Is it impossible for the Kenyan govt. to post a comprehensive and easily accessible map of govt. land? Or hire officials who monitor govt. land. Hii ni ushetani.

This is not the first demolition on that parcel of land. People have been warned severally, including through a billboard. Cheap land and kenyans…

The block chain proposal for land management was heaven send. It was supposed to bring sanity in land records but it would expose powerful people. It had to be stopped.
