Hii shida yote ni juu ya handshake. Even the nurses who are on strike ni watu wa Ruto.

It has nothing to do with salaries!

Niliona Cherargei akitetea nurses nikajua the game at play.

Can the common man living in Pipeline Estate eat GDP?

The African obsession with FDI is always a curious one. Its inhabitants especially in SSA tend to conflate foreign investors as charity actors forgetting that most of these companies will seek to have as many concessions with as few taxes as possible.

Foreign companies will almost always seek to benefit themselves first. Its basic economic commonsense. They seek to reduce as much cost as possible in their operations. That means lower wages, less consideration for labour rights and environmental standards and higher working hours.

When things get tough, they pull out real quick. Its happened more times than most care to remember.

As a sidenote, it’s telling that most of these reports barely look at local businesses and SMEs. If you want to build your nation’s economy, these are the people that will do it. They have nowhere to go, will employ local labour, will pay taxes better and have a better understanding of the region than FDIs do.

I always find it amusing how this country will do anything for foreigners but do the very minimal least for local Kenyans.

Rwanda is a Potemkin village. Scratch beneath the glitzy PR surface and you’ll find RPF tyranny beneath it.

Can you give examples of concessions given to foreign companies that local companies don’t enjoy? If anything foreigners used to working systems find it very difficult to set up here due to the corruption murk they have to deal with and sometimes the trouble is not even worth it e.g Dangote cement and they come from the corruption capital of Afrika.

Most foreign visitors rarely venture beyond Kigali which is why they fall for Kagame’s propaganda.

shoprrite closed bcoz of their poor business model and lack of good pestle and competitiveness analysis when they were entering the kenyan market. the for flower farms, do you know they threaten to leave kenya and relocate to other African countries? It’s bcoz Kenyans have been asking for better wages; most flower farm workers are paid between sh7500 to sh10000 per month, which is pure exploitation.

I have been saying this ad nauseam. I see neighborhood supermarkets thriving for years because a sizeable number of Kenyans do their shopping there. If they did their research well they would have realized that only a tiny fraction of Kenyans do shopping in malls.

deloitte sio the same ones that audited uchumi and mumias and gave them clean bill of health? , they can easily come up with a report to please the payers, it’s not hard.
FDI are just loans, in disguise, how many foreign companies have set up plants in kenya since 2013? how may have closed shop?

kenyan officials must have bribed those guys to trick investors to come to kenya, uoshwe ung’are kama jik white than whites

They should not be trusted .Deloitte and the other big 4 were mentioned in the paradise papers, luxleaks and panama papers . Kazi yao is helping their clients laundering cash /avoid tax by influencing public policy na pia kusaidia “thieves” kuweka hizo pesa offshore.
The Kenyan branch kwanza walisaidia the Guptas of SA milk that country dry

For any equipment imported these FDIs dont pay the 25% Customs taxes and the VAT they pay is claimable so technically by default it comes to 41% Exemption.
