Russian jet intercepts US plane.

F-16 was actually built for dog fights in medium to lower altitudes that’s why pilot seat is angled at a lower degree than other fighters to allow pilots to absorb/deflect greater G-forces.

Of course flanker out-muscles the F-16 in most possible comparisons except in size meaning the F-16 will turn better and faster than the flanker in the video, which is a Su-27, which isn’t supermaneuverable.

At such close ranges with the R-27 missile the flanker was carrying being flare friendly, the F-16 out-turns the flanker there but as always, the driver is what will determine the outcome.

I actually thought dogfight ni ya f-15 only. Now i know. Lakini hapo kwa Su-27, ebu google Pugachev’s Cobra and am sure unajua thrust vectoring Su-27 can perform, then utacheki that its actually supermaneuverable…

Kassin, Funny but I had the same discussion with somebody else. When was the last time you heard of Russian subs or planes approaching California or Florida? And you’ll notice the US it has slowed down on fucking around with China since she displayed her might in the high seas…

Are you sure? International space refers to 12 nautical miles away from the shoreline. Waters does inland have no international space. I stand to be corrected.

F-15s weren’t really meant to dogfight, they were meant to dominate the air from very high altitudes and BVR that’s why they are the beasts they are when it comes to things like turning at speed or rate of climb and long legs.

Maneuvers like Pugachev’s Cobra it can pull using control surfaces only, but it doesn’t have thrust vectoring engines meaning it loses altitude when pulling the maneuver. Great for escaping the lead aircraft and great target practice for the wing man since the aircraft actually stalls and bleeds off all kinetic energy and can’t make another turn/maneuver without recovering first. The Su-30 and 35 can make other maneuvers immediately after with the help of thrust vectoring engines, and the Eurofighter/Rafale/Gripen due to the canards.

munene acha siasa. Clearly unajua during an escort mission hizo sukhoi zilikua atleast four and armed . The f16 meant no harm but they way it did the shadowing it was pretty much close thats why io Flanker moja ikasonga kuambia huyo pilot wa F16 amekuja sana…standard practice is you don’t get that close.

Russians do it all the time…only that it don’t get to the media that often. Over sweden ,finland and long range training sorties towards uncle Sam

Mi-8 VIP a modern version what President Uhuru uses. Its a flying tank with counter measures against attacks.

Mi-8 similar to our Presidential fleet.

That wasn’t American. It’s Polish.

Hapo niliconfuse na Su-37 on thrust vectoring…
Back to history…
How did they end up as the masters of dogfight, and what’s the difference when it comes to dog fighting in relation to an Air superiority fighter; to which the f-15 is…as well as Su-27.
Swali ingine, Is it true that Sukhoi 27 is slightly superior to McDonnell’s Eagle, in terms of Superiority?

you can’t really say which is nasty…though F15E is one badass plane from a completely revised airframe and some serious tech. Only two kind of flankers can match it pound for pound…the SU30MKI & SU30SM(this one is conducting escort duties for Russian bombers in syria) and the baddest Flanker Yet ,the SU 35( This one is bottomline badass). I can be wrong though. The question should be is it man or the machine.

air superiority: That degree of dominance in the air battle of one force over another which permits the conduct of operations by the former and its related land, sea, and air forces at a given time and place without prohibitive interference by the opposing force.

air supremacy: That degree of air superiority wherein the opposing air force is incapable of effective interference.

After learning from the shortfalls of the F-4, F-104, F-105, F-8 and other aircraft, they decided to build new aircraft but couldn’t decide if they wanted dual role aircraft or air superiority alone. The unveiling of the Mig-25 made things difficult for them as the F-4 was hopelessly outclassed and at that time the air force and navy were being forced to work together to come up with 1 aircraft for both services. The navy however settled on the F-14 tomcat and that left AF free to decide they wanted an air superiority aircraft hence the F-15 was born, a large aircraft that can fly very high and has a radar that can look for and shoot flying object below it or those above it. It’s maneuverable simply because of the huge wing surface areas and high thrust to weight ratio. This beast can take off and reach 30,000 feet in about a minute, vertically.

Now, some guys in the air force who had developed some theory, energy-maneuverability or something like that, were not happy with the F-15s size so they pushed for the design of the F-16 which is smaller, lighter, also has a high thrust to weight ratio and is purposely built to be slightly unaerodynamic to aid in maneuverability, purpose built to engage in and win dogfights in medium altitudes.

The F-15 is supposed to gain and maintain air supremacy. The F-16 is supposed to gain and maintain air superiority.

As to Su-27 superiority to the versions of F-15C/D as currently upgraded and configured, no.
Su-30/35, to the C/D hell yes.

F-15E/I/J/K/S are different beasts hapo it’s all up to the drivers.

The F-14 was a true multirole beast that frequently took over roles claimed by the two other teen series fighters.

SU-35 can take on the F22 and F35. Those F-15 better run when SU-35 show up.

True No pilot wants to get within IRST range of Flanker E… However no current plane in production is able to down a F22 raptor even on a bad day. Its so good & expensive that even Americans could not have more unless they were willing to partner with other states to mass produce. Raptor died a sad death…but never say never

$100 million a piece, let alone maintenance and expensive weapons. They will struggle to sell it abroad. No wonder Turkey, Japan and S. Korea decided to start their own local stealth fighter construction program than buy it from usa. A squadron of 8 fighters costs of over $800 million.
