Unasema hii, its at Ngong Vet area just after Bulbul and before Kerarapon. 4 tunnels will be constructed in Nairobi-Naivasha SGR Phase 2A Project, among which the longest tunnel is over 4,5KM. This will be the longest railway tunnel in Kenya.

White caps (construction colour code) means they are visiting VIP’s not workers, you can see some are even wearing suits. This project is been supervised by several parallel firms to ensure the highest quality work possible and each sign off on a series of cross checks. CBRC have their own internal and external inspectors, Their is a another independent Chinese quality supervisor firm that has to okay everything and sign for it. For them its even worse since they gave a $10 million bond to guarantee that the quality will be perfect for the first 10 years before maintenance. The Chinese government is also periodically sending its own inspectors whom the Chinese staff fear because this project is their flagship project in Africa that will be marketed globally to seek others to build. There are 17,000 Kenyans working on the SGR directly and we haven’t even considered how many Kenyan’s work for suppliers and auxillary services.
