SGR vs Air Cargo.

You really need to reflect on your reply, unafikiria the goods in the containers are made to stick in the container?

Such a sober argument. Did a case study on air freight sometimes back, there’s so much to be done. Dunno in what office our findings are dumped at.

Aki ya Mungu Baba wa binguni si Mwafrika ni mgumu kuelezea.

I just mentioned in my thread Singapore Airlines Cargo which moves 1.5 million tonnes of cargo annually. Ama hata hukumaliza kusoma, ulikimbia kwa comments?

Not 1.5 million parcels or letters… over 1.5 million tonnes of cargo!

Surely brother hata kama umekataa kuitikia si uko na Google hapo si utumie tu ikuambie how they do it. I’m quoting recorded facts.

Ama wacha nikutafutie basi…

Ndio hio link:

They have large dedicated boeing aircraft which can ferry between 3 to 13 containers and several pallets in one go.
So, in KQ’s situation they’d be moving 13 containers from mombasa to Nairobi within one to two hours. Do you see the overall impact? Ama I also spell that out?

And, in the long run if they advertise and entice more clients costs will definitely go down.

And you don’t need new aircraft to ferry cargo, hata zile dc10 za zamani will do the job. Even if you canget your hands on an old Russian antanov that can carry 20 containers in one go then good for you. Just retrofit it to carry cargo.

Male version of GM. Kenyatalk typist. Nimecheka sana kwa hii thread.

Woi,hata wewe? I’m disappointed.

Toa umalaya yako hapa kumanina wewe.

umeffi kama hii ndio inaua hii site. enda ukacheke na huko tbt na hekaya section shallow minded fargot. enda ukacheke zile post za kilimani mums.

kwani huko jkia hutaenda na truck to pick your goods?

@patco Has a point! I don’t know enough about the economics of transport business, but these infrastructure projects are poorly thought out and there doesn’t seem to be a master plan! They are totally disjointed and they are built with the sole purpose of getting well connected tenderpreneurs huge kickbacks.

In kenya wakora probably wanafinya the Kq cargo department to make it appear as a loss making entity so that it can be scraped or relegated all together and they can then establish their own expensive airlines or set up transport truck routes. In a country like Singapore where they were lead by the benovelent dictator Lew Qwan Yew itakuwa ngumu sana kujaribu hio ujinga. So the airline thrived under the right kind of management. It is now wholly owned by the govt. as part of a sovereign fund. An airline that is the same age as KQ.

If uhuru was to step in and modernize the airline, invest a few billions in cargo aircraft and inform the citizens of the benefits of transporting via air freight people would be shocked by the turn around effect on the economy. But he can’t do it. He’ll be stepping on friend’s toes. Labda hata yeye mwenyewe ana interests huko.

Corruption and dept are the cancer… Then we need dictators as leaders who are development survey…

My friend stop ranting here. Air cargo is GREAT but EXPENSIVE. I have ordered a few items from Amazon and shipped in by a very reliable company called Kentex.

Do you know whats the price per kg? USD10. Now assume a 90kg bag of maize from Ug coming to kenya. Thats 90*10 by 103(depending on exchange rate) you get 90000. Now add purchase price.

Mbona huongelei kitu inaitwa COST OF FREIGHT matako hii?

Sande sana. @patco amenipandisha sukari

matako hii kama ungesoma comment zangu pole pole bila kukimbia kucomment ungeona kila mahali nasisitiza that once customers sign up in sizeable numbers then costs definitely go down. Plus in business most times nowadays clients are also looking at speed of delivery and will pay if they know they can rely on you to bring their cargo on time. Shida ya costs sana sana ni delays caused by a disorganized airline, hadi inabaki client amehama. If people are paying several thousand bob to fly to kisumu and back or lamu and mombasa na wanawacha the slower and cheaper bus and sgr nani amekuambia they won’t pay for air freight?!

The high cost at moment is due to low business kwa the few airlines offering air cargo services to Kenya. Hence the few clients they have, must be charged higher cause probably hata goods hazijazi a cargo plane.
For instance, while shopping on Aliexpress, the cost of shipping to Kenya is really higher than that to the US, and most times, there are about 5 options of airlines that serve China- US while Kenyan section ni moja tu.

The cost of corruption is very very steep even socially. It conditions the populace to believe that certain things are unachievable and unobtainable. Very sad really. Very very sad.

If Uhuru wanted to,today… this very minute he could turn around that airline forever… but he won’t. Afadhali ajenge reli ya billions na a force watu kuitumia.

Singapore is a very small country just about the size of Kenya or just a little bit bigger with a population of 5.6 million people. If 7 ageing Boeing aircraft, just 7… 1, 2,3,4,5…7 can be able to carry over 2 million tonnes of cargo per year kwani Kenya ni nini hatuna na hatuwezi?

7 aircraft mzee mzee mnasema hatuwezi afford and operate? JUST 7 AIRCRAFT!

If their population was Kenya’s size they’d probably have many more. But anyway endeleeni kujiambia IT CAN’T BE DONE, PATCO YOU ARE STUPID… while the other three fingers are pointed at yourselves.
