There is an agreed amount which the driver or conductor is supposed to give to the owner of the vehicle every evening, at closure of business. Before Saccos were introduced the amount was at 10k every evening. Nowadays the benefeciaries mostly hua ni Makanga, Driver na Traffic Police, mwenye gari hupata kitu kidogo Sana. The Matatu business was left to the hardcores, unless your vehicle is in a long distance route.
I think this applies only to the matatus that ply Town routes,za kwenda long distance au ocha hazina mambo mob kama kina 2NK,Mololine…what i know is that wakimaliza trips dereva huenda ka round kamoja ambayo huwa ni.pesa yake.e.g kama kila siku anafaa kutoka Nairobi -Nyahururu and back.Akifika Nairobi badala ya kwenda empty Githurai kwenye yeye hulala anabeba watu,hiyo pesa huwa yake but ubaya yote huishia kwa bar
