Get a turbo charged subaru. The imprezas above dont impress much considering the engine size. if its for mobility only BUY

Don’t buy this car, it’s sluggish and bad on fuel economy for a 1500cc car. and to make matters worse, genuine subaru parts are a bit expensive compared to the same class of hondas,toyotas and nissans, so you are getting shafted all the way, unless you are buying the “turbo charged imprezza” for the speed

If you are stuck with the Subaru, better get a legacy, same fuel economy,roomier and faster.

I have made it a point never to buy an interference engine that uses a timing belt instead of a chain. If I buy an interference engine, it must have a timing chain. I have seen too many engines go bad because a belt snapped yet the guy had changed it before the stipulated time.

My previous daily driver car used a timing belt and that belt snapped three times. Twice, it was because some oil had leaked on it because of a damaged seal and the other time, it just snapped and yet the recommended mileage had not been reached. Luckily it was a non-interference engine so a simple timing belt change and the car was ok (total cost was 1800 for the belt and labor). Hate to think that if it was interference, I would have probably ended up rebuilding the engine like 3 times.

Current daily car is interference, but it uses a timing chain.

Intereference engine: Timing belt ikikatika, pistons inagonga valves and it can bend piston rods, valves na camshaft. Yani kufix hii ni expensive sana and most guys just change the engine.
Non-interference: Timing belt ikikatika, the only thing you need to replace is timing belt pekee (very cheap) na gari iko sawa.

Subaru 2013 models onwards replaced the timing belt with a chain
