Swahili in Muscat Oman

The film is called Africa Addio (Goodbye Africa), an italian production. They were lambasting Africans and predicting chaos in the newly independent countries of the mid 60s. It’s heavily skewed towards basic racism, especially the analysis and voice-over. Am just glad they actually released the full footage. The documentary is there somewhere on the tubes. Honestly, I ignored the voice over and extremely enjoyed the visuals. The Zanzibaris went in on those colonizers and slave masters. Walikua wanafukuzwa towards the water wanaambiwa swim back to the Arabian peninsula. Mtu akilemewa anakula machette ama copper. Siwezi hurumia slave master.

Technically speaking the colonizers are the Zanzibaris themselves. The first people in Zanzibar, the Hadimu and Tumbatu are not present in Zanzibar today. The true settlers of Zanzibar were actually the Arabs and Swahilis whose settlement of the lasted longer than the Hadimu and Tumbatu. Not the current group of people who are descendants of enslaved Africans from Central Tanzania and the Congo. Unfortunately for them, by the early 20th Century, their slaves descendants outnumbered them.
