Why do Kenyans love defending criminals. The only way these people have gotten so rich in a country that is not even halfway to being fully industrialized and with 40% unemployment amongst the youth is through corruption which includes tax evasion. Their children are buying top of the range SUVs apparently from selling overpriced water while the rest of us can’t even afford a bicycle.
ii si maneno na taxes. ii ni business rivalry. very simple. nobody is interested in taxes. joho was a tax evader last year but 1. today joho has a 25 year discount pale sgr, na ame allocatiwa 40 acres pale Athiriver na government ajenge cfs.
Uhuru to Duale “naskia hamjamalizana na kra…”
Duale " every kenyan must support the BBI…"
It is disingenuous to tell suspects who have not been arrested what you plan to charge them with and how you plan to arrest them before the fact. If the suspects own business records implicate them, what do you think will be happening the minute they know what is coming?
Would you expect that they would leave such incriminating evidence lying around to ensure their conviction? Just because it is computer data from KRA does not mean the DPP has won the case, he must prove his case beyond any doubt. One sided evidence is just that, uncorroborated evidence.
In countries where judicial systems are successful and well established, none of the public announcements happen until the suspects are in custody and have been charged. People are buying into the DPPs public relations exercise but never questioning the final results. Lots of press releases and leaks but not much to show in terms of conviction.
what purpose does arresting people serve? si watu wakutane kortini wa argue case uko? ukishika mtu akae cell 3 days na haupeani water tight evidence kwa court, si ile conclusion tutafanya ni eti ni hongo tu ulikua unanegotiate io time suspect amekua cell?
You haven’t paid tax , you haven’t paid. What evidence could you possibly be deleting ? And the cases are in the courts. Do you blame the DCI/DPP or the Chief Justice for the slow play after the fact?
Kenyan tax authorities are a joke. Unafahamu kule uko, the taxman does not play and will not blink. They will freeze/seize all the defaulter’s bank accounts, assets, put liens on any and all properties owned, suspend the passport hata pesa ya kununua chakula inakuwa shida.
What benefit to the prosecution does alerting suspects in advance of their impending arrest and charges serve in winning cases? How many times have the DCI and DPP gone to court and pleaded for time to complete investigations only to eventually come up with nothing because their plans were leaked well in advance?
As to your digression from the issue at hand: Tax is paid on what is actually received as income or collected on sales, not what KRA assumes through an assessment as being your unpaid tax. Suspects can alter, delete or destroy records that KRA/DPP would have to used to prove their case.
This is BS. Multinationals have been screwing us for decades through transfer pricing and monopolistic tendencies. Its too bad shrewd locals are being targeted only to favor foreign companies and dynasties
New DPP is new officer. All his cases filed are active in court.
As for taxation, you have the burden to prove your expenses. KRA can claim Ksh 10 million but you say you are liable for Ksh 1 million since Ksh 9 million was expenses. You have to produce the receipts for your expenses. Burn them and you have to pay the Ksh 10 million.
Who has been alerted and hasn’t been apprehended?
You are beating around the bush and avoiding the issue, discussions about proving guilt are neither here or there about the benefits of alerting suspects in advance of their prosecution and arrest.
The term creative accounting must have flown well above your head considering you only concluded it has to entail burning of receipts. You are yet to tell how many cases the current DPP has won, and petty theft cases don’t count.
