This is a painful truth that many find unpalatable. If you remove the Gema economy from Kenya the country would be a shithole worse than Chad or Central Africa Republic. I mean, what do njaruozz, Pokots or Turkanas produce? You’ll find Njaruozz are theoretical ‘experts’ in governonce, law, labour movt, politics etc etc but on the ground hakuna any economic activity ya maana they do. Kazi ni kupiga kelele about how things should be run and how taxes should be used. Meanwhile an old lady in Kiambu or Nyeri is waking up at 5am to milk her cow and take the milk to her local dairy.

I dare any of you to fly over Kenya and see the disparity from the air like I have seen. Half the houses in Mt Kenya have red/green/ etc tiled roofs. The rest are shiny mabati. In Nyanza half the roofs are grass…

Well all the successful countries in Africa/world have GEMA au sio.

Actually it’s normal that successful countries have regions that are richer than others. It only happens that in Kenya that region which is richer happens to be occupied by GEMA. It’s as simple as that. Nothing more. But because Kenya is a tribalistic country they want to add tribalism in the mix. Like for example what is it with creating institutions/companies etc. All that is needed is money to invest and GEMA have it the most.

Maybe the question is why the region is richer and there are a couple of reasons. One is the GEMA region received European settlement first and impacted from it the most that when they left they were ahead than other regions

The second reason is the area is closer to Nairobi which acts as a market and presents a lot of opportunities. The third region is the area is fertile, favourable for agriculture which would be later sold to Nairobi at good prices. The other reason is of course they are in a large numbers.

Kenya is ahead of Tanzania just like there are smaller countries with less that are ahead of Kenya.

It just knows how to use the little it has. Nothing more.
It happens quite often in life. Someone with little resources/disadvantaged outperforming someone with resources/advantaged

A kikuyu Kijana akikatwa, done at age 14, it’s mandatory to move out of parents house. Unless you are talking about those in big towns.
