Daud Wabera the Northern District Frontier D.C who was assassinated by Somali gunmen for his efforts to ensure that the region remained part of Kenya and not Somalia after Independence in 1963. NFD included present day Wajir, MAndera,Garissa, MArsabit, Isiolo and Turkana counties .A growing number of ethnic Somalis had wanted to be administered from Mogadishu and started the Shifta war in the 60s against the Kenyatta administration. Wabera Street Nairobi is named after him
(wonder why this hero is missing from the history books)
