The Kenyan corn market

the day we get a president who thinks about the future and the people, tutaona mabadiliko every sector…
lakini sasa ni wakati wa "a few " over “many”

That is why I said we need to restructure our market to make it more liberal and competitive. The goal is to get traders to view maize as one of the valuable commodities in the stock market.

In fact, if those cartels are so powerful creating shortages we can encourage farmers to set up small industries and trade amongst themselves making these cartels irrelevant.

We need to produce maize cheaply first, because in the minds of cartels , competitiveness means we push out the farmer for imports…and that will be our end, we cannot be a net importer of the staple food.

the cartels are the ones supplying fertilisers to the farmers. wako na mikono mingi, mirefu

Hizi zitakatwa kaa pale Sierra Leone

The moment the farmers can mill their crop, the cost of growing maize falls as well, the value addition chain would absorbs the cost. Moreover, they would have buying power, reducing the cost of farm implements, seeds and fertilser.

With purchasing power, there is financial strength to be able to source and buy directly from manufacturer, much cheaper.

It would create so many jobs.
Welfare of farmers would improve, no longer hand to mouth + perpetual debt.

In West Africa there are communities using traditional methods to produce own planting seeds, using a certain tree powder. Cutting out cost of buying seeds. They have gone back to ancient seed preservation for planting. The seeds are well preserved, not attacked by insects, they produce good crop, which is organic crop.

A lower unga price is passed to the consumer.

This is what empowerment for the black man looks like, money getting to the pockets of the ones toiling and sweating.
Itafika tu…
