The scams that Kilimall is running and how I got burnt by them.

The problem is not Kilimall or Jumia, the problem is YOU.

Jumia, Kilimall and Luthuli avenue sellers habour similar characteristics. Some are genuine, some aren’t. Some sellers in town have a presence in Jumia and Kilimall.

Huawei, Vivo and that private Xiaomi shop in town have a presence in Jumia. Is there anyone here who has ever been conned by Huawei via Jumia? Even Carrefour has a presence on Jumia, anyone who has ever been conned by carrefour?

Oppo actually sells phones via Kilimall. Go check Oppo’s official store on Kilimall. Anyone here who has ever been conned by Oppo on Kilimall??

The answer to those question is a resounding NO!!!

What you and this @captain obvious did, is similar to walking into the first shop on Luthuli Av and buying the first TV on display. Chances are you’ll get conned and even robbed within seconds. Halafu utatoka hapo yapping like a whore who hasn’t been paid after being fucked in the anus. Whereas hundreds of talkers who know how to conduct due diligence have bought thousands of items at Luthuli avenue.

The problem is you!! Conduct due diligence first, understand how kilimall and this jumia operate. Seek genuine shops that run genuine physical stores. Call them if you have to. I once called that Xiaomi store in town and they confirmed that they have a store on Jumia. I used their services to buy and deliver a Xiaomi phone to Mombasa with no hiccups whatsoever.

Huyu @Scammed by Kilimall was probably sold items by a seller who doesn’t even understand how a simple flashdisk operates let alone a SD Card. Probably a seller who operates those shops in town where women wear heavy makeup and expect you to buy electronics from them. Btw have you ever tried returning a faulty flashdisk to sellers in those shops in town? Wataruka 30ft away!! These people are all over jumia waiting for the likes of you.

If you were clever people, you would check what systems Jumia/Kilimall have put in place to prevent scammers from taking advantage of buyers. Examples are stuff like holding cash in a temporary account while awaiting buyer confirmation. Setting a robust dispute system, Very solid online reviews etc. If these are lacking then you have to conduct due diligence and buy from 100% genuine sellers. I have bought lots of items from Jumia and Kilimall and I have never been conned. NOT ONCE!

The thing is that the 4.5 stars are fake. When you choose the 1 star section reviews, it mysterious changes to 3.6 stars and over 200 negative reviews show up.

If the company is aiding scam, then it doesn’t matter if there’re legit businesses on its platform.

What happens in Jumia is indicative of the general business environment in Kenya. Jumia is not rogue. The industry and market is. Whether you are buying from Jumia or Ali express or Luthuli no one will excuse you for lack of due diligence. Not even courts, just ask Mwalimu Sacco.

Let me copy paste parts of the post for you just once again in the hopes that you will understand what’s going on. But considering that you think that everything is a d*ck measuring contest,I doubt so.

The next thing they do is put all the fake goods on their recommended pages and flash sale pages and then they send multiple notifications through their app informing people of the offer/scam.

So, last week, I was looking for storage options. An SD Card if you will. And lo and behold, there is one on the flash sales.

I do my check list

1. Seller has over 1000 sales ✓
2. Seller has 4.5 stars ✓
3. Kilimall recommended ✓
4. Flash sale justifying the low price ✓[/I][/B]

You failed to conduct due diligence. I don’t know if a genuine flash sale has ever happened on Jumia or Kilimall. I highly doubt! Even black fridays and cyber Mondays on Jumia are a scam. But even on ebay and Amazon, if you aren’t careful you’ll be scammed on black friday.

For platforms like Jumia and Kilimall, reviews posted on those sites are never genuine. I once wanted to buy a Konka TV from KIlimall to send to my rural home but I did some due diligence and discovered the description was not accurate. Needless to say the ratings and reviews were over the moon. I didn’t buy! I trust Twitter, Youtube and Facebook when it comes to the reviewing items from from those stores.

And by the way, never buy an SD card at a discount price unless it’s from an authorized reseller. You’ll be scammed. That is just simple common sense. There is no excuse for lack of due diligence.

But don’t come here to pretend that Jumia or Kilimall is any different from the rest of the retail space in Kenya. Even genuine companies try to lure you with fake discounts across the country. Don’t expect protection from anyone! Caveat emptor baby!

Jumia has really improved Product wise and in delivery record. Normally disputes end in my favor - sometimes I get to keep the product as well. Hapo kwa flash I better order from Jumia than buy In any shop in Town. I am quite confident if it turns out to be fake i get my refund.

He is advising you to buy only from sellers with a physical shop that you can actually visit, if it is an individual seller with no registered shop with a physical address mostly likely is a conman.

It is always a bait. But generally i have never been conned in jiji. Just call them ask about the product and their store. Then go there physically.
