Thereā€™s a difference between 4 stroke and 4 piston.
The motocross ones are not 4 piston. Most are single piston 2 strokes.

600 is a good budget. That can get you a more than decent machine.
What sort of bike do you want?

Iā€™ve had my day in the sun with your run of the mill bikes. But not on anything close to pro level. Iā€™m a speed enthusiast though.
But nothing trounces expert opinion so, what would you recommend. With similar aesthetics and within my stated budget

Start with a smaller bike.
Ninja 250 ama 300 and work your way up. That amount is more than enough, plus youā€™re bound to fall anyway so better to fall first on a 250 than a 600 or 750.
