Scandinavia is even more capitalist than the US. Having a strong safety net does not make you socialist. And Scandinavians HATE being called Socialist.

The difference between the capitalism of the Scandinavians and that of the US is that Scandinavians are simply self disciplined (not all of them though, some members of the political class in Sweden are tax evaders like the Americans) and see giving back to the community as an obligation. Sweden has a strong history of capitalism for example.Women were given equal rights to start a business to men in the 1880s, long before any other nation.While taxes are high, the cost of investing in Sweden is even lower than Kenya. Sweden has some of the lowest bureaucracy in the world.If you need something from the Government, you will get it.In fact, the Swedish Government is ever looking for ways to keep the business environment competitive so that the taxes keep flowing and that is only possible if you are highly capitalistic. And btw, taxes in Scandinavia have usually been high on individuals, not businesses. High corporate tax above 20% came in 2015 and even then, it is in the low 20s. Denmark is 22%, Sweden 21.5%, Norway 22% and Finland 20% as compared to the 50 to 55% individuals . Compare that to even Kenya where Corporate tax is at 30%.
The Swedish model CANNOT work in the US. For example healthcare. For some reason people assume Scandinavia has a Universal ,Government Run healthcare system. NOPE. Swedish healthcare is run by municipalities and regions. This is possible because Sweden’s population is small and concentrated in the Southern part of the country.
Imagine if the US tried this form of healthcare, the disparities that would exist between say cities like New York and Houston and the Black belt counties of Mississippi and Alabama???Everyone would be moving outside their municipalities and putting pressure on large city healthcare systems Ocasio Cortez often sounds ignorant(Like when she said she supported National Socialism on The View, without knowing that is actually Nazism.Sigh!) and this is one of the instances that she is.
