If you had 1 million pounds in December 2015, that was equivalent to Ksh 40 million. The same 1 million pounds is now equivalent to half a million kenya shillings. The salaries of civil servants have not been raised ever. So people who used to earn 6,000 pounds (around Ksh 180k) in 2015 still earn the same now but the amount is equivalent to Ksh 3,500.
The country is experiencing hyperinflation and their inflation is #2 in the world after Venezuela.
