Just after finishing fourth form, I was hired by a French Ngo that was carrying out research on awareness and use of family planning among the rural women. The target group was women between 18-50.To get clear information we had been trained to carry out the whole exercise in vernacular, Now imagine me, at 19 years of age, asking a woman old enough to be my mother, how regular her periods were and what family planning method she uses or would like to use, and all this done in kiuk?

Hahaha mimi i worked with ministry of health. Spraying people’s houses with insecticide to control mosquito. Sasa you would be dropped to a village umevaa overall, gumboots, helmet na a tank kwa mgongo. Some huts were so small u would only use little of the insecticide halafu rule was that ikibaki you carry iy n move to the next homestead. So unamaliza then moving to the next boma na like 15 kgs kwa mgongo unapata mtu wa team yako alipitia hapo. So you have to walk around with it again looking for a home. Unafika some home unapata watu wanakula then they invite you to join them shida uki decline wanaudhika halafu some even wont cooperate with you to arrange the things in the house am they tell you they dont want you to spray the house. After Spraying the house people were not to get in for like 2 hours. You explain that to the house owners before uanze hadi they consent. Halafu unaanza halafu moving to some room unapata the same person you talked to ako hapo getting exposed to the chemicals na wewe umevaa protective gear. Ikifika noon overalls za black zinaanza kuchoma. Unangojea msee wa team aje kwa gari mrudi kumbe jamaa anakula kwa boma ya mtu na nyinyi njaa inawamaliza hapa

so far i think the most frustrating job i have ever done ni kuuza life insurance,i am finding kenyans wakiwa very hard to convience whats more important in life
