If you want to change careers, do have the skills to obtain the position and succeed? If the position would require you to work a different schedule (longer hours, at nights or weekends), can you do that while raising four children and coaching the local soccer team? Decide for yourself if your goal matches your lifestyle.[/li][li] [/li][li]Time-Bound – Creating a realistic deadline to achieve the overall goal and mini-deadline for each step. A year is too long for most resolutions, without achievable goals every few weeks to maintain course along the way.[/li][/ul]
[li]Remember KISS (Keep It Simple, Silly) – Simplicity is the key to successfully reaching your New Year’s resolutions. Keep your number of goals low, tackle one goal at a time, and try not to complicate your objective by making things more difficult than they have to be.[/li][li]Accountability Partner – It’s easy to give up on goals when they seem difficult and no one knows the goal you’re trying to reach. Consider having an accountability partner or group who will be able to take the journey with you and hold you accountable. Consider scheduling one-on-one meetings or join a small community.[/li][li]Track Yourself – Make sure to track your progress. Keep up with the small successes and use it as motivation to keep going. If you reach a setback, avoid beating yourself up about it. Everything worth doing isn’t easy but is it possible.[/li][li]Reward Yourself – Treat yourself to small rewards after reaching a checkpoint in your goal. That doesn’t mean you should eat an entire box of chocolates after successfully losing 5 lbs, but treat yourself to something that won’t contradict your goal.[/li][/LIST]
