Kuna mzee ashawai nicon OLX and i felt stupid kabisa.
I was selling a Huawei phone, so i posted on OLX. The mzee called and told me he wants to buy it. We agree to meet hapo commercial Nairobi. I get there and mzee tells me yuko hapo Accra hotel. I go there but I don’t find him. He calls and tells me yuko hapo nje karibu na choo za kanjo. I step out and finally meet him. He tells me tuingie a hotel/pub iko hapo next to the hotel. We go in and the first thing the mzee does is to remove his coat and hang it kwa kiti before sitting down. I gave him the phone, he looked at it and told me he wants to buy for his daughter. He asked if the charger is working, and I tell him yes, the phone is new. He told me he wants to test the charger and he moved towards the counter, which was away from the door.
I relaxed, waiting for the mzee to come back. Since his coat iko kwa hapo and the exit is next to me, I was not worried. But after 30 mins, the mzee was nowhere to be seen na simu yako. I tried calling his number and it was off. I moved towards the counter and asedk the cashier if the mzee left the phone charging, akaniambia hakuna mzee amewacha simu. I asked if there is another counter and she told me no. I walked around to the washroom and realized there is another exit. Nikajua nimeoshwa na muosho moja. I went back and checked the coat. It was still there, hanging. I checked the pocket and found a wallet filled with papers and a fifty shillings note covering the neatly arranged papers made to look like notes.I went home with the coat feeling very stupid.
Hehehe hiyo koti bado unaionanga ama ulikuja kuitupa

Still doesn’t make sense considering how phones keep changing every now and then .
These past few months Huawei alone has unveiled mate 10 and p20 series. Samsung several A series and S9 that caught me by surprise , didn’t even understand what’s going on.
I believe in buying phones from the shop if ever I need one, second hand never ever, you can find many descent phones for every price that you think of.
Same here, I never buy second hand electrical and electronics. Save for it pole pole hadi hela zitoshe. Old phones pia siuzi, I give them out roho safi to one who genuinely needs it.
That said, olx ni sawa though one has to be cautious. I’ve bought items there as recently as a fortnight ago.

The exact same thing has also happened to me, OLX is a good market place though when it comes to electronics it is slippery, i now buy phones from genuine instagram sellers whose profile is clear and they have posted a lot of stuff if i want to shop for electronics online
OLX kumbe imespoil namna hii. Bought my TV stand there na nikauzia mtu surround system yangu. Sikuwa na shida yoyote in both instances only that the system had to be dropped at some shop huko downtown. Hio speaker ilipigwa spray na kupanguzwa na kutolewa vumbi inakaa mpyaaaa kisha msee flani akauziwa kama niko hapo na bei ya surround system mpya. Kutoka hio time Mimi huogopa surround system za downtown.
OLX iko sawa. Hata hizo duka unaeza uziwa vitu imbo pia. A lady friend of mine aliuziwa “iPhone 6” 30k from a shop. Mi kumwitisha the following day naona Ni zile chinku, hata home button haiwork.
Due diligence Ni muhimu and never dismiss red flags thinking umeangukia; Buda umeangukia.

As a gentleman, you should not have stolen an old, innocent stranger’s coat and money. Let us assume for a moment that he was indeed a thief as you allege. So you stole a thief’s jacket, wallet and money, all which he might have stolen from somewhere else. Add handling stolen property to your charge.
The old man went to charge the phone and to consult his son who works in a bank somewhere in town. He trusted you with his coat and everything in it. What did you do? You stole his coat, stole his wallet, stole his fifty bob, and threw away his newspaper article cuttings and lists of debtors and creditors.
What you did was despicable!
