Both G3 and AK 47 are ancient guns. No modern military uses them.

They didn’t move to AK47.

Why did we move from the AK47?

Reloading factor is key. By the time the G3 magazine is finished the AK47 is on its second magazine. KDF learned the hard way…

BTW KDF always had AK47’s they just weren’t that many to start with… In Somalia, the KDF has a mix of FN SCAR, M14/M16 variants, and AK47s.

Siku hizi wako na M4 na M16s…kama akina @Tarantinoh pale KWS/KFS. Sijawai ona KDF na AK47. AK is good in rapid fire (gas action), close combat but overheats, G3 ni long range but weighty na reloading pia ni kazi.
Naonanga KDF SF na FN Scar but ilikua reviewed harshly coz of an elongated charging handle which makes flexibility while hiding limited.
Best gun of all those is the M4.
