Hio ni upus juu ya fingerprint

It is not fake news.

Boss noma si fingerprints, problem is the system wont detect you have registered twice ata kama ni finger print. Because you will have two user unique ID and the system has a loophole cant detect a fingerprint used to register twice. In that fingerprint is used to identify if wewe ndio mwenye ID or passport but not to identify kaa umevote kama ile ink watu hupakwa kwa kidole.

I doubt this one since ID is usually referenced when obtaining a passport, and both rely on the unique birth certificate.

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RE: VERIFICATION OF THE REGISTER OF VOTERS

Thursday, January 19, 2017 - Our attention is drawn to the reports that Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Ms Susan Wanjiru Njoroge are registered as voters under the same identity card (ID) number.

As we establish the circumstances under which this mix up occurred, it is worth noting that there are several cases of shared ID numbers in the register of voters’ database. In most cases, this could be because of data entry errors at the point of registration or genuine sharing of ID numbers. The Commission has been is in touch with the National Registration Bureau on potential National ID duplicates.

We wish to assure the public that since voters are identified using biometric features on voting day, no legitimately registered voters can be disenfranchised. In addition, any person whose National ID details are inconsistent with the details captured in the biometric system such a person is never allowed to vote.

The law provides for correction of errors during the inspection of the register. There will be a month long period to inspect the register after the voter registration exercise is complete and the records captured are consolidated.

The Commission would also like to inform the public that it will suspend the SMS query code 22464 which it piloted to help identify errors. It has since been established that some voters attempt to confirm their records shortly after registering or applying to transfer polling stations. Since effecting the changes and getting records on the database takes a while, the voter unduly panics that he/she is not registered.

The Commission appreciates the feedback so far received and will incorporate it to ensure that the voters register is credible and verifiable. An online portal will also be provided for the public to interact with the entire register.

Manager, Communication and Public Affairs
