Streptococcus pneumoniae meningitis has the highest incidence of about 61pc and a Case Fatality Ratio upto 12 times that of Neisseria meningitidis. In-hospital mortality for S. pneumoniae meningitis is about 25pc. (this is what kills Kenyans). More reason for routine pneumovax by GoK to all.
