In traditional African society, and us arabs too, circumcision had a purpose.
The importance wasnt much in the anatomical changes but, the lessons imparted.
It was under this rationality that women were circumcised too.
Circumcised women were taught to respect men. Not to throw words carelessly at men just because WE NOW ALLOW YOU TO WEAR TROUSERS.
I must admit though, women circumcision had a lot to do with nyege and hygiene. Folds hide dirt, they just got to go.
When it comes to men… mostly in this country …you variously find the kipii word thrown around in everyday and political discourse.
Men in this country are only truly circumcised in one way: culturally in the forests and bushes.
The rest of them that do it in hospitals are pretenders and not truly circumcised.
So when guys throw words around eti this and that are kipiis then i usually wonder if they are pointing to themselves coz most of them walitahiriwa kwa hospitali

circumcision is an outdated practice, that’s why boy children even go to hospital to do it now. FGM on the other hand is idiocy meant to keep women down
