Washington Post: Michelle Obama says in memoir she'll 'never forgive' Trump for endangering her family

Updated 10:57 AM ET, Fri November 9, 2018

Former first lady Michelle Obama discusses her dislike of President Donald Trump — as well as personal details of her life before and during her time in the White House — in her highly anticipated memoir, "Becoming," The Washington Post reported Thursday.

Obama says she would "never forgive" Trump for the rumors he spread questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama's American birth certificate, which she said threatened her family's safety.

"What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls?," she wrote, according to the Post, which obtained an early copy of the book. It will be released next Tuesday. "Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family's safety at risk. And for this I'd never forgive him."
Trump responded to Obama's book Friday morning, telling reporters: "She got paid a lot of money to write a book and they always expect a little controversy."

He added that he would never forgive her husband Barack Obama "for what he did to our US military."

"I'll never forgive him for what he did in many other ways," Trump continued. "What he did to our military made this country very unsafe for you, and you, and you."

Obama wrote in her book that the so-called "birther" movement was "crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks."

Obama also recounts how her "body buzzed with fury" after hearing Trump's candid lewd comments about grabbing women.

"It was an expression of hatred that had generally been kept out of polite company, but still lived in the marrow of our supposedly enlightened society — alive and accepted enough that someone like Donald Trump could afford to be cavalier about it," she writes, according to the Post.

Obama also describes her private struggles and triumphs in the book, including her romance with her husband, their difficulties having children — including a miscarriage and that their daughters were conceived through in vitro fertilization — and her work to make the Office of the First Lady her own, the Post reports.
Shonda Rhimes, the producer behind the television shows "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal," praised the memoir as trailblazing yet relatable.

"I don't think anybody will be necessarily prepared to read a memoir like this — especially coming from a first lady," Rhimes told the Post, having read an advance copy of "Becoming."

"I was very surprised, pleasantly surprised, by the level of candor and the level at which she opened herself up," she added. "I love the honesty and the humor and the beauty with which she addressed the romance of her marriage and the tribulations of her marriage and motherhood, and all of those things that we as women all can relate to."

Obama also reiterates that politics isn't for her, alluding to her previous dismissal of a potential 2020 presidential run.

"I've never been a fan of politics, and my experience over the last ten years has done little to change that," she writes according to the Post. "I continue to be put off by the nastiness."

Drumpf is so predictable.

He has responded the same way to all the books that criticize him. His device is to try and find something nasty** to say instead of addressing the criticism. Yes Michelle is right: he wasted 4 years flirting with Birthers, and he is also the pussygrabber.

**watch footage of that crazy press conference after the polls, and see how quickly he hurls a personal barb at the NBC reporter who takes it up for Jim Costa. Very immature.

How can one person be so roundly facked up? I didn't give much credence to the claim that he has a mental disorder but it's hard to ignore. One report I saw said that he has subscriptions to 18 porn sites! Who needs that much smut especially when he's get hookers on speed dial? Though I have my doubts about the rpt (source questionable), nothing is out of the question coz he's an admitted insomniac.

Melania is going to write a bestseller when this is all over.

You make it seem like she dedicated her memoir to Trump
Where do you get "YOU" from? It clearly says "Washington Post: Michelle Obama says...". Do you know how to read?
Michelle Obama’s memoir, Becoming, will be published Nov. 13.

The first headlines about the former first lady’s book have been about her anger at President Trump, but it’s a story about her history, how that influenced who she is — and learning to adapt after agreeing to let that life be hijacked by politics.

They highlighted the passages on Drumpf because they know that he will react instantly and without tact, which will guarantee readership and sales.

Does he realize that they prod him like a caged pig, just because he responds in a certain manner?

I hate to say it, but I am increasingly getting to like Trump. And it seems despite all the negative news, the guy has significant support - or how else did he win those extra seats in the senate?

@Amused, check out the BBC. There is a well-argued piece by a respected journalist that Trump was right during that exchange with CNN...........

Best of all is, Trump is helping destroy Western hegemony, a brick at a time. Hopefully he'll get re-elected.............................

And you know this how? A person who snatches a suckling baby from its mother is not a baby killer...interesting. Lay out your "facts"..
I don't hear of Muslim babies getting killed everyday by the US military nowadays, you know, what they loved to call "collateral damage".... Give credit where it's due, Trump is not a terrorist leader posing as a peacemaker.

If you do not understand the dynamics of mid-terms or the magnitude of GOP house losses last Tuesday, avoid commenting.

Trump lost a great deal and that's why he's acting like a bull in a china shop.

I'd rather not engage you sir.
Hakuna shida Sir. I am free to address any African daft enough to express admiration for Drumpf.

Do you know how many GOP senate seats were up for grabs, relative to Dems? Do you know what the ratio will be in two years? Go and read up, no need to answer.

Where have you been? Trump ordered a total wipeout of Assad's Syria in April this year but the top Pentagon echelons ignored his orders, the orders of a mad toddler. With Russia in the mix we could now be swimming in a bloodbath of biblical proportions.
That's fake news. Obama supported the terrorist; Trump has consistently spoken against the Syrian war

FACT: In 8 years under Obama, Dems lost 1,000 seats state and nationwide. Trump lost 339 in last Tuesday.

I don't doubt you that someone might have sided with Trump. But you too have to admit that the overwhelming majority of the stuff written by foreign journalists (who have nothing to lose/gain) think he's an idiot. Every right thinking person who has been witness to his charades think he's one step away from the lunatic asylum.
