Mombasa is a staging ground for several massive on-going infrastructure projects.

Several Billions of usa $ dollars in infrastructural projects are simultaneously ongoing at Mombasa and the coast region. Its no longer about proposals which we are good at but implementing them.

Yes its due to start in January 2018 and all these projects is by national government. Expect the announcement when Japanese Premier will be here next month to open TICAD conference. The first time the Japan-Africa conference is held outside Japan. We expect the Likono Bridge commercial contract to be signed, 3rd/4th phase Mombasa port expansion, Mwea irrigation rehabilitation/expansion project and Moi airport Mombasa expansion.

If only we Kenyans could concentrate on electing true, honest and patriotic leaders, we would be far much better than akina S.Africa, Egypt et al in matters development. Mtu wetu syndrome is our major problem…Until then, we will progress yes, but rate of corruption will always be inversely proportional to development.

Folks if this is not exciting , I wonder what is exciting times. The time to invest in south coast is now.

Don’t say I never told you.

I choose to remain an Optimist.

If Mombasa does not shape up , they will not know what hit them when Tanga and Dar ports projects are completed.

Competition is a good thing . Keep it up TZ.

Remember the Dar to Mwanza SGR construction to begin 2017/8.

We need more stiff parallel completion.

TZ has secured delivery of two more passenger planes for donestic and regional flights.

Rwanda is considering entering domestic market.

Stiff competion for KQ means better deals for passengers.

Macharia is trying to implement the projects that Mwangi was sabotaging so as to get kickbacks. Kenyatta’s first cabinet was full of thugs. Kama Moi angekuwa more development oriented then we could be in the league of Egypt, Morocco, Algeria and so forth. Ethiopia could not be near us.

Dar port expansion remains on paper. It has not even be decided who is funding it or how it will be financed. As they get around that Mombasa port expansion is on 3rd phase and 4th phase is due also to be signed this year. Even better Mombasa port will be the first in the region to have a SGR by March 2018. Tanga port expansion was only mentioned in their campaigns but there is no write up, feasibility study or design. Meanwhile the first modern 3 berths container terminal of Lamu port is ongoing and will be completed in Q4 2018. So ironically all Tz projects haven’t started so who is supposed to shape up. Jokes aside.

That remains to be seen until a commercial construction contract is to be signed. It reminds me of our SGR project which we started talking about in 2008 upto 2013. China had offered us the loan but we had to do the feasibility study, get finance from China Exim bank, undergo audit to determine our financial position to repay it and finally broker the deal at the highest office for it to start. If President Uhuru hadn’t seized the bull by the horn and personally flown to China to seal the deal our SGR would still be a marvel project on paper.

Tz airline can’t even compete against KQ subsidiary in Tz Precision air, how will it take on KQ with propeller plane.

The SGR Project will avoid Nairobi altogether from Nairobi South Station Hub, Rongai, pass an elevated section around the south boundary of Nairobi Park, Ngong and finally Naivasha.
