ODM leader Raila Odinga is poised to lead the country’s economic recovery in new changes expected to be unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Star has established.

Uhuru is crafting a new Cabinet lineup that could see several Opposition figures get plum jobs as the President moves to shove aside DP William Ruto as he races to secure his legacy.

Sources privy to the planned changes said Raila could be handed a huge portfolio that would see him coordinate several ministries dealing directly with the economy through a new agency to be established in the Executive under the Office of the President.

lets be practical, the cause of the mess is the debt to be repaid. i think i saw interest on the loans to be repaid this year was around 700 bilion, nterest on loans cannot be renegociated and it must be paid from the revenue collected. with all these factors at play how do you see him suceeding?

We already have institutions in place that can deal with our present economic mess if the president is serious.

I don’t think you have diagnosed KENYA’S problem. Shida yetu ni kwamba since 2013, we have been on a race to tax inputs, come up with fucked up policies against SMEs and farmers and stolen with abandon. Those are the things we need to handle first. Shouting debt is oversimplifying a complex problem.

correct, the govt has chosen the module of tax over reducing the cost of production but i dont see them stopping anytime soon. kra has a high target to meet so govt taxes everything leaving little for circulation.
