@Quadro k4000 what do you get on your freesat v7? Movies, kids programs, documentaries, science stuff? Are those, at least, available, for free?

If you havent ordered go for Freesat V7 combo its very stable or if you need only the terrestrial only order Freesat T2 decoder its awesome. Btw where are you located since it may influence tuner type?

How about these digital TVs that come with in-built decoders. Are the decoders DVB-T or DVBT-S and how can the scrambled channels be accessed.

Thank you @Giggz. I am in Kisumu. I think Combo is what I will go for, though the terrestrial one you mention seems exciting. Now that you know my location, which of the two would you suggest I settle for?

    1. Buy something else with those greenbucks unless you are planning to access satellite Tv preferably an Android Tv box with Dvb S2/T2. it will futureproof you.
    2. I sell the Freesat V7 combo at $60 dollars so do your math but it may be what you don't need.

@Giggz @Luther12 I wanted the combo for my kids, cartoon stuff mostly, maybe documentaries, animal stuff and just other wide range progs that local TV don't offer. I don't watch TV so anything goes for me. I used to have GoTv until a week ago when it refused to update and was told I need to buy a replacement. So instead of a replacement, I thought, why not a good FTA decoder!

Currently, with the GoTv aerial, the TV is receiving local channels well on DTV, so at least there is some TV, but only limited to inooro, citizen, ntv, KTN. Nothing very entertaining on those. The other channels say 'scrambled', so can't do anything on those.

So, I take your advice, thank you. But what should I do then, to get the most out of the TV? The freesat terrestrial is going for about 25bucks, and the combo for about 45.

You're not under pressure to spend that cash, are you? Hiyo $45 is it inclusive of shipping?

Then by all means go ahead and spend it. No need to second-guess yourself.
