Washington (CNN) — President Donald Trump on Sunday evening tweeted that the US has “reason to believe that we know” who is responsible for an attack on a Saudi Arabian oil field and the country is “locked and loaded depending on verification” following the crippling strike.

Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!” Trump said.

Trump’s tweet, which appeared to raise the specter of a US military response, served to ratchet up tensions in a region already on edge after Sunday’s audacious attack on the Saudi oil field.

Trump used similar language in June when he announced he had called off an attack on Iran just as the US was “cocked & loaded” to strike because he decided it would cause too many deaths for a proportionate response to Tehran’s downing of a US drone.

 let’s hope he doesn’t start bombing.

I am not saying you are a simpleton. I know you are an expert in many areas but geo-politics wachia wazito wenye wamezoea kuanalyse these things. Russia is much more committed to Iran than Venezuela for obvious reasons. Putin hataki vita in his backyard. The reason why he went to Syria is make sure that America does not invade Syria. He has set up S-400 and S-300 missile systems in Syria that can shoot down any American jet except F35. America has no choice but to leave Syria otherwise they will get their ass whooped and handed to them.

Houthis “sandal wearing commandos” are going nowhere. You touch Houthi you touch Iran “wazito persians wenyewe”. You touch Iran you touch Russia “a solid brick wall”.

However if you trigger a war and are in the middle of it, you are less likely to be voted out due to re-discovered patriotism by voters.

You have never heard about false flag incidents? Elections are not far and someone needs a winning formula to win. It wasn’t the rebel group according to the US, but Iran. They do not have to target it themselves. Read about Iraq’s yellow cake uranium?

What do you think this pact is really about, who are they “defending” against?

My fren, no way Saudia Arabia and the US and their allies are going to let this slide. Peleka hio Benki Kuu Ya Kenya. There WILL BE retaliation. Its the only way to prevent such attacks in future cause if they just sit on their hands, it will embolden the rebels to strike with impunity.

If the US was about to strike Iran cause of an oil tanker attack which killed no one and only slightly damaged the tanker, what about when its major ally in the middle east has half its oil output crippled overnight? An ally who it can count on to manipulate oil prices as the US sees fit? Saudi Arabia is too important to the US…

Alright. Trump is not that stupid to start a war with Iran. Iran is not Iraq. Even former army generals keep on saying this. First of all, Iran has precision guided missiles meaning they can strike anywhere they want without missing. Second, Russia will not watch as US slaps around Iran. Russia couldn’t even watch Syria get slapped around by US and had to step in. Third, Iran has S-300 missile system from Russia and this system can hit any American jet except F-35. Fourth Iran is 2 times bigger than Iraq both in population and land mass. Fifth, with 2 million soldiers, both active and in reserve, any war with Iran is a suicide mission. Again i repeat Trump was not stupid when he changed his mind about attacking Iran at the very last minute. Yes, the Houthis may be bombed but not Iran. And as for the Houthis they have been bombed since 2015 without retaliating. They have nothing to lose since they have lost everything already, their cities, especially Sanaa, have been ruined by Saudi jets. So the Houthis are not afraid of being bombed and they are used to it since that is what has been happening to them since 2015.

As I said, there will be retaliation… whether or not it is directed towards Iran in terms of a full blown war or a limited strike I cant say. Whether or not they limit themselves to wiping out the Houthis or not is also up for debate.

But, there will definitely be retaliation.

But I think, if they do decide to attack Iran, it will more likely be a limited strike that will inflict damage that is atleast comparable to what the Houthis did. Neither the US nor Iran want a full blown war but in a situation like this, a retaliatory strike is inevitable

Okay. Let’s wait.

They have caught some online oil traders offguard.

Retaliatory strikes will lead to a war which is exactly what Drumpf’s war hawks want and need to have a chance at winning an election. The military industrial complex badly needs a war and so does the oil industry. This is all about making money and political power at the end of the day. The Israeli’s (with an election) also have an interest in the US doing the fighting for them, so why not do or facilitate something to provoke such an outcome?

“As the Israelis have demonstrated, sometimes only a military response to aggression from the regime in Iran and its proxies creates meaningful deterrence,” he said. “Washington can’t rely just on sanctions as its sole instrument of national power.”
Asked whether the U.S. should consider attacking Iranian oil fields, top White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said on Fox News Sunday: “This president and his national security team and Secretary Pompeo, our nation’s chief diplomat, keep many options on the table.”
“The United States has limited options for non-escalatory intervention,” said Kirsten Fontenrose, a former director for the Persian Gulf region in the Trump National Security Council.

Ok. But in your view, how do they think the US should react in a case like this where all signs point to Iran? Should they let it slide?

Do you mean to say all signs in Pompeo’s imagination or hard evidence? Interventionist policies caused the US to spend the last 18 years in Afghanistan at a cost of over $1 trillion without much to show for it.

If there is evidence, it should be the Saudi’s to react and if need be, they can engage their allies in doing so through formal process such as going to the UNSC. The Houthis have been using drones and attacking targets in Saudi Arabia for a while, suddenly the world is being told to believe without any evidence that it is Iran that did it. In my view, the eagerness to rush to war or to retaliate (for what exactly - Saudi and the Houthis are at war, the Houthis are retaliating for attacks on their territory) does not mean a war with Iran is justified - the political motives must be examined.

I have told that guy already that America will not attack Iran. Even when Iran downed their drone they couldn’t lift a finger. Plus American citizens are tired of war especially wars based on lies e.g the weapons of mass destruction lies.

America to go to war because a(their) drone was hit?

This is the thing. A drone being downed is a minor incident. But knocking out half of Saudi Arabia’s oil production is a major thing. So if the US does nothing si they will simply knock out the remaining half of oil production. And then the US does nothing. Then Israel will be attacked. Then the US does nothing…
