CIA carried out a comparison between Kenya and Somalia military forces in the late 60s when the two countries were almost going to war.According to the assessment Somali could have defeated Kenya easily had the two countries decided to square it out militarily.

It way more complicated than that. One document in that decade was just one window in a shopping mall. In the 1960’s it was during the cold war arms race that kept on changing a nation fortunes from weak to strong. Somali was armed a lot by Soviet union that’s why they had more arms than Kenya. However that was mostly to fight Haile’s Ethiopia over the Ogaden province. The usa/uk armed Kenya soon after to match Somali and predicted correctly that Somali can’t sustain a simultaneous war on both fronts. Shifta war in Kenya and Ogaden in Ethiopia. Soon Haile was overthrown by a Marxist regime to give USSR a hold in Ethiopia. USSR stopped supplies to Somali as a result. usa now shifted to support Somali so as to keep Ethiopia on its sights. They started playing us against each other. pentagon sold us the F5 jets to match the faster and superior Somali MIGs. They then went to Somali and sold them missiles to shoot down our jets. That’s why I call the usa as the true devil in the world.

Kenya has traditionally had a very small army compared to its neibas…in the 1960s prolly just four battalions.
Kenya was a military weekling in those days. Uganda under Amin had more military hardware than kenya as kenya focused the bulk of her budget on social programs /educafion and is one of the reasons that the brits were allowed to keep a major military base in our country.
But now the tables have turned… especially since the ussr fell, those countries receiving that support lost a major military backer.
