For those who attended boarding schools, you must have fried some onions in oil then carried to school to add some taste to the bitter herbs served at school. in my school we called it sublenya.
Siku moja nikiwa form 3 after a half-term break, I bought some omena, fried them good then packed them in those small transparent polythene bags and added it to my shopping bag(paper bag pia). so it happened on that day we had the same reporting date with the school my girl was at and we had agreed to meet at 2 pm and board the same psv.
At 2 mimi huyo hadi stage then I find these boys from our academic rival school trying to vibe my girl and her friends. Nikaingia kama Alejandro, hugged my girl hadi wale wasee wakatulia, yule alikuwa anasumbuana sana akakunja mkia. We got into the same vehicle with those guys. Mimi huyo kwa kiti moja na bae hadi nikambebea bag yake ya shule na tumeshikana. Kwa gari tunarushiana maneno na the other guys.
Now I had to alight first, take a nduthi or car taxi to my school while the others alighted at the next town which wasnāt that far. On getting to my destination hugged my girl while promising to write her a letter. Sasa wakati wa Kushuka wasnāt keen and the door brushed my shopping bag making a hole through it and through my omena too, so while I was walking I left a trail of Omena behind. The tout shouted āKijana Omena yako namwagika funga visuriā. wale maboys waliangua kicheko while the girls were like āaki woishe angalia boy wa Dianaā, I pretended to have not heard him and kept walking so fast while wishing I could just disappear from the face of the planet. I bet hao wasee walinislice jaber because I never heard from her again

My sister knows my wife hates those creatures because of the smell and so she uses that tool intentionally to show that she is the superior and closer to me than āforeignerā -madam. Not only does she bring,but she goes ahead to fry it ndio inuke kapsaa.

Me and my sister end up having a merry meal with the kids who have grown to love it mpaka wanaita yeye 'aunt wa omena". I treat omena meal with maximum respect . No other meal can beat that one. None whatsoever.

Canāt stand them pia. Tried them nikiwa mlevi pale Kahawa sukari, I had the longest night ever. I have been living in Nyanza for nearly 3 yrs sasa. Kibanda yoyote yenye huserve hiyo siwezi kanyaga reason being wasije wakapika food na mafuta imebaki after cooking such or deep frying fulu (big omenas )
Omena ni tamu, it all depends on how you cook it. Shida yangu nikikula nasikianga kama tumekatalia kwa koo.

My husband cooked it for me on our first indoors dateā¦I tried one out and thatās the only one piece of omena I have ever put in my mouth ( I spit it out on my Hankie clandestinely like Mr Bean in that French restaurant)
Moving forward, I learnt to fry omena from him( siweki supu :)) but I cannot eat it and I give a goodnight kiss on the forehead. :rolleyes:

Omena has a very high nutritive content. Having lived in shinny land I have seen a change of perception. Back in the day shinny eyes gave it names and detested those who ate it but tides have changes. Siku hizi hata wao huweka kwa uji ya mtoto and a significant size eat it. Kuna kibanda moja tulikua tunaenda kula ugali ya brown na tulikua na amani sana till shinny eyes hawajui ugali ya brown. Siku hizi ni hao hututangulia.
Thatās another thing. How you guys cook a number of meals na maziwa sielewi. Kuna wale mi huona wkichukua zile UHT zimechapa pale job ati wana kwogo, alafu wanaiacha itulie kama a couple of days.
