And I agree wholly.

Has saved me Twice and Am not counting again.
About preffered facility its about outpatient si inpatient.outpatient cases are considered manageable for you to visit your preferred facility.
Reforms are required I agree but Thanks to whoever coined this.

I pay 6k a year for my mother chose a hospital near home where she visits for free when unwell and should she need in patient treatment I know the card will pay for part of the bill. Thankfully she has never needed it for that.

It’s more than that, they accept civil servant mostly because government always pays it’s dues to NHIF after deducting it from salaries therefore all their cover are upto date. Most private companies deduct it but don’t pay NHIF on time or at all. Therefore your cover is not possible. When you are free and you have NHIF, pop at Huduma centre to confirm if you are upto date. It’s only takes 5 mins.

NHIF pays private hospitals more than public hospitals.

It should be the other way round. The way it currently is, it enriches private hospitals instead of subsidizing public healthcare

True, but also a quote for MRM in public hospital is 1/4 cost in private hospitals. Kwanza government equipping county hospitals was starting to hurt their numbers until the doctors strike started.

What do you need to know?

The best thing Dalmas and Ngilu introduced in the civil service. So far so good. Eye care cover, perfecto. Outpatient sevices, perfecto. Inpatient, wonderful.

Visit your preferred facility and ask about your account status.Get me well not your status ok! If not updated choose the facility if updated visit NHIF to change Facility And window iko June.

Visit NHIF office near you and choose a hospital only then will you be on super cover.

Its called NHIF super cover for self employed you pay 500 per month and choose a hospital for it to be effective. That hospital receives some money on your behalf every month weather sick or not but the day you visit you are treated and given medicine free if charge. You do not walk to any hospital and flash your NHIF card. It also covers treatment of cancer, kidney and other chronic diseases

What if u r employed? Steps

If civil servant, you’ll be able to simply walk into any NHIF-accredited hospital for service (I think it’s from JG L and above though not sure). Simply carry your national I/D and NHIF card with you.

If not civil servant the procedure for selecting a facility is the same as that for self-employed. Walk in to any NHIF office near you to do it.

For specialist services like dental and ophthalmic, you obtain a letter of undertaking from NHIF offices prior to seeking the service.

In all cases, the procedure for adding beneficiaries (spouse, kids <18yrs) to your cover is the same.

Vile mkubwa @luther 12 amesema. Choosing Hosi for the 1st time is easy and instant. You just walk into a NHIF office with a copy of your ID fill in the form and you can go for treatment that same day
